I bought this new. I took it out of the box, assembled it, then started it. But now the trimmer does not spin. Never wored once ! I have taken it to a repair shop and have been waiting 2 weeks. They have to order parts. I had to pay $31.80 for them to look at it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I will say that it did start up nice.
Customer Review: You will be disappointed with the package
Poulan is a good brand, but this particular package is very disappointing. I thought when I ordered this product the Poulan Pro 17-Inch 25cc Gas-Powered Trimmer/Brush Cutter #PP325 $159.99 that I was getting both the Poulan Pro 17-Inch 25cc Gas Powered String Trimmer #PP125 $109.99 and the Poulan Pro Brush Cutter Trimmer Attachment #PP4000C $52.50 in one package and saving $2.50 by buying them in a combination package. However this package does not contain the brush cutter trimmer attachment. Instead it only contains the brush cutter blade and head. A second lower shaft assembly with the quick connect is NOT included in this package. So you have to actually take the brush cutter blade and head off with an allen wrench and reassemble it as a string trimmer when you want to change functions. Order the two items separately and you will be much happier with what you get, because you will be able to easily switch attachments using the quick connector. (The prices I listed are the current prices at the time I ordered).

Customer Review: very handy for small jobs
Black & Decker is a reliable name whose products I have purchased over the years. I actually bought this particular product as a standby, but use it more than I thought I would. I have a very small lawn in the front and back and actually have someone mow the front lawn for me. However, my back lawn's grass is kind of weak and his equipment is too powerful, it always killed some of the grass, especially around the edges with the trimmer he uses. I decided to do it myself so I purchased this lightweight trimmer and it serves my purpose. My grass is in better shape than it was and I really don't mind doing such a small lawn this way. In early spring when the grass has started to grow, before this person starts his mowing season, my trimmer comes in handy to give a finished look to my front lawn. Again, I am using this on a very small lawn and it does a great job. Let's not forget it's intended purpose, it also does a great job trimming and edging.

Customer Review: Great Inexpensive Gas String Trimmer
Owned one of these for six years and then it gave up the ghost due to abuse my me. Pros: Light weight, good length for taller person (I'm six foot), starts easy, works great. It is a simple to own and operate piece of yard equipment. Cons: none really for the price except cant hook on accessories which wasn't a con to me since i find split shaft machines to be heavier. I spent a whole day looking for a unit to replace my old poulan p1500 and then decided ("after looking all darn day", as my wife stated) that I couldn't find a better price performance machine. So I bought another poulan P1500!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My yard in Brooklyn has two patches of grass among the various landscaping, trash, pigeons, rats, hypodermic needles and beer bottles. This thing works like a charm to quickly and easily trim up small yards with no messy gas and it also works as a club to remove unsightly bums who may have passed-out in your yard. Get a move on, buddy, I've got to cut the grass! It's also very safe for this type of product (I accidentally ran it over my bare feet the other day, not even a bruise. FYI this is NOT RECOMMENDED but I thought I'd let you know. Okay, look, just don't use it on yourself, even if you're into that sort of thing. Geez, now this will probably be deleted.) Customer Review: DANGEROUS: Line auto advances too far, gets automatically cut, and may fly into your legs or face
My face was seriously cut (deep quarter inch gouge on my left cheek) by the excess advanced line snippet. The Black and Decker Grass Hog automatically advances the line (versus punching down on the head), however too much line is advanced and a 2-4" snippet flies off and may hit your legs or face depending on the swivel setting of the Grass Hog. I am returning it immediately. For my health, I will never use this machine again. Please be aware of the risks of this machine.

I waited quite a while before writing a review since I have used several gas and electric trimmers and edgers over the years. I must honestly say this is, without one doubt, the very best one I have ever had. The line lasts much longer (each spool) than I predicted. I am a fanatic regarding my lawn and grass and I could not recommend a trimmer more than this!! I am trilled. No tangles, no line breaks, easy-simple-a no brainer to use. Light weight but powerful.
